Pedestrian cornered multi-tasking designer Kym Ellery in the ABSOLUT Gallery elevators and chatted about her recent collection at RAFW, her inspiration (Miss Teen USA) and collaborating with Melbourne band Hot Little Hands.
We chatted to the Italian based Brit who orchestrates Milan’s “Punks Wear Prada” club night and discovered that Italian inspiration, collaborations and the collision of music and fashion is as organic as mixing two tracks.
Pedestrian caught up with Wayne Cooper at the ABSOLUT Gallery to talk inspiration, supermodels and icons while finding out who his ideal collaborator would be - Paris Hilton. We joke not.
Music: Lost Valentinos - Serio (Bumblebeez remix)
12 DJs, hundreds of guests, views of Circular Quay and complimentary ABSOLUT Vodka; all came together to form a potent mix of debauchery rich tomfoolery which made for one of the highlight evenings of the ABSOLUT Gallery’s short history.
Music by CATCALL - BAD MOVE BABY

Proving she’s as capable designing clothes as she is wearing them, “Luci in the Sky” is a Swimwear label headed by model Lucinda Taffs who you may recognize from the ABSOLUT Gallery as she DJ’d for Pedestrian’s party last Saturday.
Taffs studied Fashion Design and Textiles at the University of Technology Sydney whilst simultaneously conducting a successful modeling career working in cities such as Milan, London and Japan. Putting her two worlds together Lucinda came up with Luci in the Sky, a brand that brings a youthful sexiness to Aussie swimwear. For Fashion week Taffs collaborated with Tara Williams of handbag label William Phillips to put on a joint show that will have you wishing it was Summer again.

Ben Pollitt of Friedrich Gray is quickly becoming one of Australia’s most heralded designers. We decided to throw some questions at the man of the moment to see what he has to say for himself.
How did you become involved with the ABSOLUT gallery?
We were in the Vogue.com.au/ABSOLUT show.
What’s the best collab you’ve ever worked on and why?
Best colab has been with Scrapwall. He has been producing my digital images for the last two collections. Together we are able to translate my visions into images which have been printed on wool and silk and will feature prominently in my ‘Trangression’ show (summer 09/10).
If you could choose to collaborate on anything with anyone, what would you do / who would it be with?
I would collaborate with a filmmaker and musician to compose a short film/soundtrack to put clothes too.
Featuring some of Australia’s hottest labels such as Antipodium, Ellery, Romance Was Born, Dion Lee, Friedrich Gray, Therese Rawsthorne and Arnsdorf, Vogue and Absolut gave fashionistas an exclusive sneak peek at looks set to hit this season’s runways. View the full gallery here.
