From retina scorching sunglasses (ironic no?) to cycling caps with geometric prints, cult Melbourne-based label P.A.M have dropped a capsule of limited edition collaborations in store now.
In typical Perks and Mini style, the duo have tapped some high caliber artists to work on 3 otherworldly and left field collaborations: P.A.M x Super (Superetrofuture) Sunglasses (as pictured above), P.A.M Tees with artwork by Bea Nettles and Graff legend Barry McGee (certified organic cotton) and a ‘must have’ P.A.M Cycling Cap with artwork by Barry McGee.
The super limited edition batches drop into stores worldwide from May/June at Colette (Paris), Slam Jam (Italy), Someday (Melbourne), Outpost (Brisbane), Highs and Lows (Perth), Haven (Canada), Dragon (Mexico), Superette (NZ), and selected stores in Japan.
Expect to see pieces alongside P.A.M Winter 2009 men’s, women’s, shoes and accessories; P.A.M embrace the spirit of modern and ancient history with ‘Magic Messages’, a collection of high-impact, high-visibility pieces live and direct from another planet!

Designers TMOD have collaborated with artist Andy Uprock to present “Poetry In Braille” a range of jewellery that eschews the typical focus on visual aesthetic by instead embracing tactility.
TMOD, whose previous Smoke & Mirrors collection featured puzzle-solving jewellery, and Andy Uprock, known for his street cup installations, have created the range by combining ‘touch’ with ‘poetry’ hence the collection’s name.
A percentage of sales will be donated to Vision Australia, in order to support its work and wider community.

12 DJs, hundreds of guests, views of Circular Quay and complimentary ABSOLUT Vodka; all came together to form a potent mix of debauchery rich tomfoolery which made for one of the highlight evenings of the ABSOLUT Gallery’s short history.
Following 2007’s “Attack Decay Sustain Release” English duo Simian Mobile Disco have released the details for their sophomore LP “Temporary Pleasure”.
The album, slated for an August 17 release via Wichita sees guest spots by The Gossip’s Beth Ditto, Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys, Yeasayer’s Chris Keating, Jamie Lidell, Telepathe and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor. Wow, surely the stellar list of collaborators on one album earn SMD some kind of “Timbaland of dance music” accolade.

Here’s hoping it arouses the same temporary pleasure I get from this video, now if you’ll excuse me I need to take a cold shower…
It may lack the guile of Scorsese’s Copacabana steadicam shot in “Good Fellas” but the below filmclip for “Let The Beat Build” by NYU graduate and decidedly non-gangsta rapper Nyle certainly subscribes to the same theory. No cuts, no problems - and it fucking rules.
Nyle explains of the video: The story behind ‘Let the Beat Build’ is long and crazy. When Tha Carter III dropped, my friend Jo Bellino hit me up with the idea to cover the song with a live band, and do a video. That never really happened, but since I already had written the rhymes and the song was now permanently stuck in my head, I decided to do it anyway.
The clip took 31 attempts to complete and becomes all the more mind blowing when you realize all the audio was recorded and mixed live. Yep, liquid basslines, live strings, brass, piano and a banjo - that’s how you let the beat build.

Pedestrian HQ is bordered on one side by Central Station and on the other by a pub which churns out more slabs of flesh than a skin flick. It’s handy really, the coma-inducing meat smell alerts us that it’s lunch time. I’m not complaining though, I just hope the folk at Spanish architecture firm Selgas Cano with their pine fresh air and natural surroundings know how lucky they are. The design eye candy comes courtesy of noted photographer Iwan Bann.
The newest offering from the Young Turks imprint (past releases included Holy Fuck, Foals, El Guincho and Wavves) is “Crystalised” a gem of a slow burner and the debut 7″ from UK four-piece The xx.
Recalling the art school aesthetic of black clad countrymen These New Puritans (Penchant for semiotics? Check. Drum machines? Check. Editorial ready haircuts? Double check.) The xx are perfect fodder for British style publications such as Dazed and Confused and i-D, but possess the songwriting chops to back up the hype. Never has restraint sounded so engaging.
Why is Audrey Tautou the perfect Chanel No. 5 campaign star? A) She possesses a wide-eyed beauty that is as arresting as it is quintessentially French B) She is the most popular French actress of the last decade C) Umm she portrays Coco Chanel in an upcoming biopic D) All of the above.
The as yet unreleased video titled “Train de Nuit” (night train) reunites Tautou with Director Jean Pierre Jeunet a pair who exemplify creative collaboration (Amelie, A Very Long Engagement) and who rival the previous Chanel No. 5 team of Kidman/Luhrmann. Though to be honest, and I hope this isn’t too un-Australian, but it won’t take much to be more enchanting than Nicole Kidman. For Tautou that’ll be like shooting fish in a barrel.
